We are very honoured to be part of the local heroes gang in Peninsula Living Magazine. Everyone who has ever participated in one of our clean ups, donated your cans and bottles to us at "Return and Earn", fundraised for us (legend school kids), turned up early to help us set up, invited us to talk at your event, shared our posts, told your friends to not use a takeaway coffee cup, written an article about us, helped educate about plastic pollution - you are all part of this too - our local unsung heroes ❤🙏
#northernbeachescleanupcrew #loveManly #beachcleanup #community #friends #plastic Convenient or wasteful? Don't people have olive oil and salt at home? Does it really need to be included in a tomato container? Tomatoes in a single use plastic container is bad enough but now this!
#northernbeachescleanupcrew #plastic When will people realise the damage these bags are for the environment? When will more people care?
No corner of the world is free of plastic waste anymore, and the environment can no longer be considered healthy. Even Arctic regions are polluted by plastic as are oceans and the ocean bed. Plastic's effect on the environment is so severe, the scientists consider plastics "should now be considered as a marker for a new epoch" in the geological life of the earth. They found that single-use plastic bags and cups are the main pollutants. #northernbeachescleanupcrew #banthebag Love the idea of repurposing a Moccona coffee jar to carry dip and veggie strips. Store the dip in the lid of the jar!
Idea: Susan Bailey #northernbeachescleanupcrew #moccona An empty bottle is thrown from a parked car, prompting the toddler to walk over, pick it up and pass it back through the window. No littering on this little fella's watch.
The boy's mum Jing Lulu said her son was most likely trying to be helpful - and had probably assumed the person dropped the bottle by mistake, so was simply returning it. However, I like to think he was shaming the litter bug and that we have a new, tiny environmental activist on our hands. #northernbeachescleanupcrew #plasticfree It's a tradition in Spain to eat twelve grapes for New Year but this packaging is shocking!😱
#northernbeachescleanupcrew #plastic My favourite quote from one of my favourite people, Jane Goodall, goes - “You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” Have you changed to reusable bags? How has it changed your shopping habits (if it has)?
#northernbeachescleanupcrew #plasticfree Every little bit helps. It's better to give away than to throw away. Flight Centre in Forestville and Red Cross in Newport have collection points. If you know of any others please write that in the comment section. Thank you, legends! 😊
#northernbeachescleanupcrew #plasticfree What steps are you taking to reduce your single-use plastic footprint?
#norternbeachescleanupcrew #plastic #plasticfree Bananas, individually wrapped in plastic for sale in 7/11 in Thailand.
#northernbeachescleanupcrew #plastic Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastics enter our ocean on top of the estimated 150 million metric tons that currently circulate our marine environments.
#northernbeachescleanupcrew #beachcleanup Do you think something like this would work on the beaches?
#northernbeachescleanupcrew #beachcleanup At least 40% of plastics are single-use. While convenient, they’re discarded after just one use. The amount of time, energy and effort that goes into producing, exporting and importing these products just doesn’t add up - especially if they’re made to last forever. So why do "Barbetta" coffee shop in Sydney, use single use stickers to mark coffee cups? Surely there are better alternatives.
#northernbeachescleanupcrew #plasticfree Stop producing it in the first place, stop buying it in the second place, stop littering it in the third place.
